A great man of God completed his journey here and pass through to what was promised to him. Bishop Walter L. Hawkins, lost his battle to cancer but is now forever free of pain and suffering. Hawkins, who has become a legendary gospel entertainer who is also part of history that will never die.

Bishop started his career singing with his family back in the 1960's and has soared every since. Hit after hit, this man has earned his place in heaven. Serving as a servant to the masses by spreading the good news of jesus through music and ministry. Phenomenal, prophectic, engaging, and charismatic, this vessel will truly be missed. Arrangements are scheduled for July 20 and 21 but the location is to be annouced later.

Why Is

Why is it that when you have a calling on your life you continue to run?
Why is it that when you are connected to the right people you let them slip away?
Why is it that when you run from what God has in store for you? The last two weeks have truly been draining for me. I've been traveling back and forth to New York because of a sick relative (1st cousin). While sitting at my desk at work I received a phone call telling me to hurry to NY because my youngest first cousin was dying due to lung cancer. I was devastated and confused for a moment but quickly collected my thoughts. I then told my supervisor I had to leave due to a emergency, so then I headed off to NY.

Upon my arrival to NY I went to the hospital to visit my cousin but what I saw was truly not expected nor was I prepared to see him in that state. I prayed and ask God to strengthen my family for what was to come. At that moment I knew God had made up his mind. This was a Friday night two weeks ago, my family and I spent most (if not all) of the weekend in the hospital with my cousin. While at the hospital I prayed, I cried, and I even song to my cousin. I knew he couldn't speak but he could hear so I began to sing "May The Works I've Done Speak For Me". I'm sure he understood. I then whispered in his ear telling him " I love you as well as the family loves you and if you are tired now let God have his way because this life here was just preparation for your true home."

On Sunday November 22, 2009 at 1:44pm I noticed that my youngest first cousin completed what God had him to do here so he slipped away. I rubbed his chest and said thank you God for allowing us 25 years with Walter and thank you for taking away the pain.

Some people don't understand death but if you decide to give God your heart he will give the understanding that to live is to die. He will teach you this land is not promised to us heaven is what's promised to us. God allowed us all to participate in a rehearsal called life to prepare us for eternal life in heaven or hell (it's your decision). Death can bring positive things into place. The lost of my cousin has opened up new windows and doors for unity and better relationships in my family. People have open up the lines of communication that once was impossible to do. The bible states, "Greater is he, that is in me". I truly believe because of the greatness of God that was in Walter is the reason his crossing over has given my family a brighter and better future.

To my cousins Darryl and Kiba, I can't replace Walter nor would I ever try but you both know that I am forever your brother. Darryl, you thanked me for being there when you fell, well always remember that I'm going to be your rock. When I think you are about to fall I'll be there to catch you but most importantly I'll be there so you can not fall. The love you and I share will never be understood by man or us for that matter...lol.

W= willing to help all mankind
A= angel sent from up above
L= laughter that inspired all to enjoy life
T= true friend forever
E= easy to love
R= rare diamond

Beloveds, take the time out to tell someone that you love them because tomorrow is not promised. Live your life as if today was your last, it is so important to appreciate all that God is allowing us to experience in this world. Enjoy it, be a blessing to others, and most importantly be a blessing to yourself by knowing God.

love you all
Tonzae

My Cousin and I, A Reflection of Peace

This morning my cousin and I had a very deep and spiritual conversation about life, ourselves and success in our careers. It makes me smile when I see and hear the bond that he has gain with God. My cousin, Darryl is truly amazing. He constantly reminds me that he has always looked up to me growing up, but it's funny now that the tables have turned. I really look up to him. With all that he and I have endured in our lives we've gain so much through our pain.

We are on our way to amazing heights. His business has started to take flight and it's all because he allowed God to intervene and guide him. Along this journey I have also allowed God to guide my steps and career. Family, when you I tell you that every thing I've tried in the past failed, and it's because I didn't wait and listen to God for guidance. Now that Darryl and I have built a strong relationship with God he has allowed us to soar like eagles. Greatness awaits us both.

I stepped out on faith by turning down journalism opportunities because I couldn't speak about God. Due to my faith and conviction, doors are opening and pouring in opportunities. Today has started out great I'm full on the word and spirit just as my cousin.

Luke 6:20-21, Then He lifted up His eyes toward His disciples, and said: "Blessed are you poor, For yours is the kingdom of God. 21. Blessed are you who hunger now, For you shall be filled. Blessed are you who weep now, For you shall laugh.

The remainder of Luke 6 should be read in it's entirety because it will help you elevate in your goals. Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to talk and minister with me Darryl. Love you much.

Be bless,

Ton-zae

Checking In

Hey Family,

Just checking in don't have a lot to discuss even though there is so much in the news right now. I'm sure you all know that Michael Jackson is being laid to rest finally at the famous Forest Lawn cemetery in Glendale, California. Also in the news Whitney Houston bombed on Good Morning America, claiming that is was Oprah's fault due to appearing on her show before her performance. She stated she over used her voice on the Oprah Show.

Chris Brown was on Larry King this week saying how sorry he was for whipping Rihanna's ass then he stated he didn't remember doing it. While he was being all confused with I'm sorry to I don't remember, his mother was by his side being emotional as Chris talked about being in a household witnessing his mother getting her ass whipped. Now while Chris was using his mother's ass whippings as an excuse I was actually getting teary eyed. Wow! How about that...lol. No!!! Man should beat on a woman unless she steps to him like a man. I don't believe in turning the other cheek...lol.

In other news Taye Diggs and Idina Menzel welcomed their first child a boy into the world on Wednesday, they named him Walker Diggs.

Now to finish up on this post let's recap over all the losses for the summer of 2009, starting May 4 with the death of Dom Deluise until this week when DJ Am died. I've been doing some soul searching by way of prayer and meditation. I'm learning new things about myself and my dreams as well as goals. For about a month now I have taken steps in the overall betterment of me. Great things are to come very soon. God is truly blessing me in all walks of my life, he has been developing my writings to great lengths. I encourage you all to be steadfast on your journeys for positive and productive futures. The solitude that I've been in has cleansed me and made me new. A new man with better intentions of achieving the success that is due me. I want to thank all of my followers and friends who have been encouraging me and uplifting me during a time when I needed it the most. I'm currently working on two new books that I'm truly excited about so look out for them in the near future.

"To understand where I'm at and where I'm headed, I have to recognize my past and accept all that I have endured. Lynn Harris introduced a generation of black women to the phenomenon known as the "down low."
Harris endeared such characters to readers who were otherwise unfamiliar with them, using themes and backdrops familiar to urban professionals, conditioned by their upbringings, their church leaders or their friends to condemn and criticize homosexuality in the African-American community. A proud Razorback cheerleader at the University of Arkansas who struggled with his own sexuality before becoming a pioneer of gay black fiction, Harris died Thursday at age 54 while promoting his latest book in Los Angeles.
Publicist Laura Gilmore said Harris died Thursday night after being stricken at the Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills, and a cause of death had not been determined. She said Harris, who lived in Atlanta, fell ill on a train to Los Angeles a few days ago and blacked out for a few minutes, but seemed fine after that.
An improbable and inspirational success story, Harris worked for a decade as an IBM executive before taking up writing, selling the novel "Invisible Life" from his car as he visited salons and beauty parlors around Atlanta. He had unprecedented success for an openly gay black author and his strength as a romance writer led some to call him the "male Terry McMillan."
In 15 years, Harris became the genre's most successful author, penning 11 titles, ten of them New York Times bestsellers. More than four million of his books are in print.
McMillan had just spoken to Harris about a week ago, to tell him she would pay tribute to him in her upcoming book by having a character read one of his titles, "And This Too Shall Pass."
"He was thrilled," McMillan said. "I loved his spirit and generosity. I loved that he found his own niche in the world of fiction, and I'm grateful to have known him. This just breaks my heart."
He went on to mainstream success with works such as the novel "Love of My Own" and the memoir "What Becomes of the Brokenhearted."
Harris' storytelling fell into several categories, including gay and lesbian fiction, African American fiction and urban fiction. But he found success in showing readers a new side of African American life: the secret world of professional, bisexual black men living as heterosexuals.
His readers, many of them young black, professional women of dating age, were fascinated and shocked to learn that the men in their lives could be attracted to other men. Harris' vivid storytelling — at least somewhat grounded in his reality and of others whom he knew — pulled back the curtain for some and held up the mirror for others.
"He was a pioneering voice within the black LGBT community, but also resonated with mainstream communities, regardless of race and sexual orientation," said Herndon Davis, a gay advocate and a diversity media consultant in Los Angeles. "Harris painted with eloquent prose and revealing accuracy the lives of African American men and the many complicated struggles they faced reconciling their sexuality and spirituality while rising above societal taboos within the black community."
For years, he was alone in exposing the "down low," but the phenomenon exploded into mainstream culture in 2004, a decade after "Invisible Life." That year, J.L. King's "On the Down Low: A Journey Into the Lives of 'Straight' Black Men Who Sleep With Men" hit bookstores and the author appeared on Oprah Winfrey's TV show.
Harris' 1994 debut, "Invisible Life," was a coming-of-age story that dealt with the then-taboo topic.
"If you were African American and you were gay, you kept your mouth shut and you went on and did what everybody else did," Harris said in an interview last year. "You had girlfriends, you lived a life that your parents had dreamed for you."
Harris was born in Flint, Mich., in 1955 and raised in Little Rock, Ark. He attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville where he was the school's first black yearbook editor, the first black male Razorbacks cheerleader and president of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity. He graduated with honors with a degree in journalism.
Harris worked in corporate America for 13 years at IBM, Hewlett-Packard and At&T before quitting a career in sales to become an author. He was not living as an openly gay man when "Invisible Life" was published, and could not acknowledge the parallels between himself and the book.
"People would often ask, 'Is this book about you?' I didn't want to talk about that," he said. "I wasn't comfortable talking about it. I would say that this is a work of fiction."
Harris said that the courage readers got from the book empowered him to be honest about himself. He continued to tell stories dealing with similar issues, to tell black middle class readers about people they knew, but who were living secret lives.
Tilia Parks read "Invisible Life" as a 16-year-old and was moved by the struggle of someone so close to her own age.
"I loved the truthfulness of it," said Parks, now 26, of Atlanta. "I'd never heard that point of view, of a guy finding himself and his sexuality at such a young age."
Parks had looked forward to the next plot twist for the book's main character, Raymond Tyler, who reappeared in subsequent titles has not been in Harris' more recent works. With Harris' death, Parks is saddened that his story may be gone.
"Loyal readers were looking for that," Parks said. "I'm so sad. I was waiting for him to come back around and start talking about Raymond."
___
Associated Press Writers Bob Jablon and Solvej Schou in Los Angeles; AP Writer Michelle Locke in San Francisco; AP Writer Noah Trister in Little Rock, Ark.; and AP National Writer Hillel Italie in New York contributed to this report.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://tonzaesimmons.blogspot.com/2009/07/e-lynn-harris-dies-at-54.html' title='E. Do they know what music is or the purpose for music? Well, I say no to both question. When you think back in the days of slavery music was inspiration while enduring the pain and agony of bondage. It also was a form of communication for the slave so the white men would not understand their plans for freedom. As time went in our culture music continued to be a source of inspiration, but it also became an expression of who we were. Music empowered us as a culture. It made us proud to be black, it made us proud to learn about our heritage. We used music to promote self love, self respect, and to let the world know we are as equal as everyone else. Music used to make us proud on all levels spiritually, culturally, and emotionally.
This generation don't understand the meaning of music because most of it is classless and tasteless. All you seem to hear on the radio is derogatory remarks about our women and glorifying the material things in life. The biggest glorification is money which we all know is the root of all evil. Evil has plagued our music industry and the music executives are destroying our children. We as parents have to take it back to the basic and teach our children the importance of positive, uplifting, and encouraging music is. We have to introduce them to the music of yesterday in it's rarest form. Now there are some modern day artist that know the meaning of music and has continued the tradition of what music is. Jill Scott, India.Arie, Maxwell, Kem, Eryka Badu, Chrisette Michelle to name of few are keeping with the tradition of true music for the soul. I commend them on not being victims of the industry by the demonic forces behind it.
Let's promote real music to save our children.

Ton-zae'

Jackson's Funeral Arrangements

Funeral arrangements have been made for Michael Jackson. This Friday will be a public viewing and service for Jackson at the famous Neverland Ranch in California. Sunday the family will have a private funeral before laying his body to rest. CNN reported that there was a will that was found dated back to 2002. At this time no details of the will has been made public, it has been stated that they are still looking to see if there is an updated will. CNN also reported that the courts need to figure out if Michael was in his right state of mind when he wrote his last will.
Now is it me or does anybody else believe that Joe Jackson is an opportunist? He had a press conference that was to give details of Michael's arrangements and answer question about his children, but instead he used that time to promote his new record label. It goes to show that Joe is still the same heartless man they spoke of when Michael was a child. Come on Joe show some compassion for your son, he hasn't been buried yet and you're trying to capitalize on his death. GET A DAMN GRIP!!!!! Hopfully Michael can get the peace he has been searching for now. The toxicology report will take about 6-8 weeks. The coroner's office stated that their were no signs of foul play. Officials still have not been able to locate or contact the doctor that was at the resident of Jackson. Questions have been asked about this doctor, such as why did he need to get instructions from a 911 operator on the proper procedure for CPR. Details are still unclear on Jackson's death at this time. The coroner's office said the body is ready for pick up. A great entertainer, performer, and humanitarian. That's the way I'll remember Michael Jackson who died today at 2:26pm in UCLA Medical Center in L.A. The "Man In The Mirror" was truly a "Thriller" with amazing talents that were "Off The Wall". He's a legend and an icon who will live on forever, like Elvis his music will make millions for years to come. Jackson open the door for black entertainers to be showcased on MTV as well as raised millions of dollars for famine in Africa.

Jackson's greatness was mimicked but not duplicated it was sampled but not mastered. He has inspired so many to achieve their dreams of being in the entertainment business, as you look at most artist today you will see Michael in their artistry. He is and will be apart of American history now and forever. In recent years Jackson has had legal and financial problems one after another but it will never outweigh his accomplishments as an entertainer and humanitarian. Michael leaves behind three children along with his parents, Joe and Katherine Jackson also his eight siblings, (Rebe, LaToya, Jermaine, Jackie, Randy, Tito, Marlon, and most notable Janet).

I'm sure he is "Moon Walking" all around heaven now. An autopsy is schedule tomorrow by the L.A. coroner's office. Stay tuned for updates of this legendary icon.

Ton-zae

A Daughter's Love

<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/get_player" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"width="320" height="266" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"flashvars="flvurl=http://v12.nonxt2.googlevideo.com/videoplayback?id%3D363698dbf6948d9a%26itag%3D5%26app%3Dblogger%26ip%3D0.0.0.0%26ipbits%3D0%26expire%3D1329934649%26sparams%3Did,itag,ip,ipbits,expire%26signature%3D7DFD7B4066FA2FC73574E38666B497B6C9896C60.7ADAD8739164EF44D623D21236216090D1DF089E%26key%3Dck1&iurl=http://video.google.com/ThumbnailServer2?app%3Dblogger%26contentid%3D363698dbf6948d9a%26offsetms%3D5000%26itag%3Dw160%26sigh%3DkvrIV1vQe_EU5J8oRmEauBGGYZM&autoplay=0&ps=blogger"allowFullScreen="true" />Hey beloveds, just wanted to share this video of my 8 year old daughter. Considering the many flaws in DC's pride I actually enjoyed myself. I met a lot of interesting people that I enjoyed chilling with this weekend. But let's recap on last week I celebrated my birthday (May 18). Just wanted to throw that out there...lol.

Darryl Wilson gave pride some wonderful entertainment this weekend with his party at Bravo Bravo and his infamous pride bar-b-que on Monday, (that was really nice). This weekend was filled with some good eye candy but I decided to network. A Divo like me is about his business not getting laid...lol.

Why is it that people don't take inventory of their garments before stepping out? Beloved, the characters that were out at the bar-b-que look like circus clowns with fire engine red hair, some with bedroom slippers on, some even was dressed in their night clothes looking a damn mess. I saw this one queen who had a perm that didn't take with a nappy ponytail. He also had eyebrows drawn on thick as the lines on the highway, just as long too. I tell you beloved these queens sure know how to make us look bad...lol!!! And bitches! please stop wearing f*%kin high heel shoes to a bar-b-que. JUST STUPID!!

My bff and I was so drunk this weekend. I think we put the vodka companies out of business...lol!! But it was a blast anyways. My cousin was here from NY and he just laughed at me and my bff all weekend, he's so damn silly,(that bitch don't drink) so he doesn't know what we were feeling. I woke up Sunday morning with a hangover but I still managed to go to church and praise the lord. Gotta get that praise in honey. Without him where would I be. Now let the church say Aaaamen!

Well beloveds gotta run luv you all, biiiiiiiiitches!!!!

"Tears of My Soul"... Babydaddies around the world are rejoicing. According to the docs, Norma doesn’t get a piece of any of Tyrese’s possessions — not his production company, cars, or his house … nothing.
The prenup does state that Norma would get a lump sum of $50,000 for every year they were married maxed out at 10 years. The couple was only married 10 months.
Beloved this is evilll! The prenup says that if either side files for separation or divorce, Norma has to move out of the house within 60 days — or else Tyrese can get a court order to make her move out.
Damn…I know the child will be taken care of, but what is the wife really entitled to when the marriage is only 10 months long? We all grew to love her as the strong woman named Dorothy Zbornak on "The Golden Girls." Her career spanned over seven decades as comedian, actor, and singer. She had been awarded two Emmys for her extraordinary work on "Maude" and "Golden Girls. Arthur won a Tony award in 1966 for her role in the play, "Mame"who she co-starred alongside Angela Lansbury. Arthur was an advid animal rights advocate also. She was loved by all and will truly be missed. I imagine that she and Estelle are setting up there just laughing, having a great time. Bea was 86 years old.

Also Grammy-nominated gospel singer and New York pastor, Rev. Timothy Wright, dead at 61. He die late Thursday. Wright had been fighting for his life since a fatal car accident in July 2008 that his wife and grandson were killed in. Rev. Wright is known as "The Godfather of Gospel."Wright was the pastor of the Brooklyn-based ministry, Grace Tabernacle Christian Center Church of God in Christ. Normally I would post information on current events and news, but tonight I decided against that. I want to talk about me for a bit. The last few weeks I have been down in my spirit, feeling very depressed. The economy has been knocking me around leaving bruises and scars. The more I try to succeed the more I seem to fail. My spiritual state has been in shambles as well as my mental state. I'm depressed all the time feeling like I have no self worth. My bills are stacking up while my money is declining. My prayers seem to go unheard, why me lord? I ask over and over. But I get no response. My life to me is falling apart mentally, spiritually, emotionally, and physically. I need help. Some days I feel like giving up and let whatever is be. I give encouraging words and motivational speeches to many people, but yet I'm falling apart. Is there someone lord who can motivate and encourage me? I need an understanding ear from time to time. Being strong for others is draining me of any strength to push myself forward. There is so much I want to tell you guys but the time is not right yet. Whenever God releases me to tell more I will, because you all may be inspired by some of the events in my life. The good and the bad. Just know that I'm still here bruised and scarred. I'm broken yet mendable, I'm sad yet faithful, and I'm down but upliftable. I did meet a young man recently that has a remarkable story. He has given me strength to stand and continue my fight to survive all that this world has thrown at me. His story will encourage many, I'm so thankful for meeting him when I did. He has blessed me without even knowing it and I'm sure his story and determination will bless you all too. Just stay tuned to my blog because I will be introducing him on here very soon.

Be bless beloveds,

Ton-zae

Whitney Is Coming!

Everybodies been waiting for some time for Whitney to make her come back, well she is on her way. Foxx's security guards spotted the man several days after the incidents near the movie set and he was taken into police custody. The suspect is facing numerous charges, including burglary. Being a resident of Baltimore it saddens me to see such high numbers. The Baltimore City Commission on HIV and AIDS points "hot zones" by zip codes. These areas that have been pointed out are poor and suffering with poverty. It's where a lot of drug abuse and sex for hire is taking place. The city does a lot to promote safe sex and educate the communities on HIV/AIDS, but it's up to us as individuals to practice safer sex acts. We have to become more responsible for our actions. There are too many resources in the communities for the numbers to keep rising. Ads, commercials, billboards, and news articles are everywhere promoting safe sex and testing center; "So why the hell can't we stop this madness?" Get a damn grip people!! The high cost of medical treatment in the US is causing people to have to make life threatening choices. Patients have to choose between their health and their financial survival. In a recent report done by CNN showed that some overseas countries charge only ten percent of the total cost of some medical procedures done here in the states. Now why is it that our country is capitalizing on our lives? Doctors, pharmaceutical and insurance companies are making a living off of our lives. It's amazing how foreign doctors and hospital are all about saving lives at a reasonable rate. A country with so many opportunities and scientific methods, we shouldn't be capitalizing on the lives of our American people. High demand of overseas treatment has produce the hottest trend of a new business called "Medical tourism planning". One of the most poplar companies is based in California, named "Planet Hospital", they specialize in planning and facilitating the trip to overseas hospitals. They book patients' travel and arranges phone interviews with potential surgeons. Patients are greeted by a company representative at the airport in the country where they've chosen to be treated; a 24-hour personal "patient concierge" is also provided, a level of service that's standard among top medical travel planning companies.
What will it take for the US to provide quality services at a cheaper rate?, Can we start being more concerned about our people's health first and worry about cost later? I say if the politicians and government officials stop getting all these bonuses and raises we could have some extra money to provide for American health care.
<div few
I have a story to tell
I've tried to tell it, but the time hasn't been right
Maybe I will today or tomorrow
Or it might be better late in the type='text'>Nigger! Nigga! My Nig!...What?

AS I was going through my files I came across an old blog from a previous site I blogged on and I wanted to recap on it so here is a re post of an old one..............

Nigger! Nigga! My Nig!....What?
Nov 25, 2006
When I think about the way we value ourselves as a people it saddens me the way we treat one another. We find it to be OK to call ourselves as well as each other "Nigga" or "My Nig". If we find it OK to result to such name calling in our music, movies, and in the streets; what makes us think that the white man doesn't see any wrong in it? Now, don't get me wrong I'm not condoning what Michael (Kramer) said because it was wrong and out of place.
We as a people have to take some responsibility in how we allow the world to perceive us and treat us. We accept "Nigga" as a descriptive word to describe our character. For me I don't and will not accept being called "Nigga" by my own race or anyone else for that matter. Can we blame Kramer for using the term "Nigger"? Yes! We can because he does not know the emotionally scarring that word has on our history and No! Because we allow it from our own people and that makes the outsiders believe we have come to a point in life where that word does not affect us anymore.
I believe that the current generation that we are in needs to have an open discussion with the elders of past generations to get a better understanding of the word. In order for today's generation to understand and stop using the N word then and only then will we stop the madness.
Come on my brothers and sisters lets stop disrespecting one another and treat each other as the kings and queens that we are!!!
Knowledge is power and currently we are powerless for not understanding that "Nigga, My Nig, and Nigger" is not respect.
Get knowledgeable!!!!

Ton-zae

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://tonzaesimmons.blogspot.com/2009/03/nigger-nigga-my-nigwhat.html' title='Nigger!
